Cancelling plans is okay. Staying home to cook is okay. Disappearing to get your life together for a bit is okay. It's called self-care. Self-care is a term that pops up frequently on social media conjuring up thoughts of luxurious bubble baths and face masks — but more importantly, and perhaps not spoken about as often, is that it is a space for you to prioritise yourself and take some much-needed me-time.
What Self-Care Actually Looks Like
Self-care is not always glamorous. Sometimes it is drinking enough water, going to bed at a reasonable time, or making a proper meal instead of reaching for whatever is easiest. It is the small, consistent choices that add up.
Nourishment as Self-Care
One of the most overlooked forms of self-care is what you eat. Fresh fruit, whole vegetables, and meals cooked with real ingredients are acts of care toward your own body. September is a beautiful month to reset — the heat starts to ease, routines settle back in, and there is space to be more intentional about how you nourish yourself.
